Age Group: 30+
I Recently Finished Reading: Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-reum - it was so cozy!
A Book I Want to Reread: it's time for my annual reread of The Others series by Anne Bishop.
Some Published Titles From My To Be Read List: One of Us Knows by Alyssa Cole, The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant.
A Book Not-Yet-Published I'm Excited About: Model Home by Rivers Solomon! I got approved for an eARC and I can't wait to get to it \o/
My All-Time Favorite Book(s): probably Written in Red by Anne Bishop!
My Favorite Book Genre(s): Fantasy and Horror!
A Book I Recommend in My Favorite Genre(s): Rook & Rose trilogy by M.A. Carrick (Fantasy) and The Indian Lake trilogy by Stephen Graham Jones (Horror).
A Genre I'm Interested in Trying Out: more Literary Fiction! I could also do with more Sci-Fi and Romance tbh.
Link to My Reading Log: you can find all of my book related posts on my reading: books tag.
Books/Genres I'm Interested in Discussing/Chatting About: any and all! I'm always willing to try new books that sound interesting. I would love some Sci-Fi and Romance recs too!

I heard a lot of good things about The Indian Lake trilogy, but I'm not very familiar with the horror genre. Would this be a good starting place?
no subject
I wouldn't rec Indian Lake for someone not very familiar with horror. It has a buuunch of Horror movie references and the writing is... interesting, to say the least. I think any Darcy Coates novel could be a good introduction! Erin A. Craig also has some great YA Horror books to dip your toes in.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check Darcy Coates out. Is there any specific novel you would suggest, or should I just randomly choose one?
no subject
I think with Darcy, you can just start with the book that sounds more interesting to you! She's written haunted house horror (The Carrow Haunt), winter/apocalyptic horror (Dead of Winter and Voices in the Snow), survival horror (Hunted), aquatic horror (From Below)... there are a lot of possibilities :D
Yes ...
LOL I put the first volume in my response. I pretty much reread the set whenever a new one comes out.

Your media posts reminded me I need to continue with Shogun!
I post a mix of books, fandom and real life, would you mind if I friended you?

I loooove Murderbot, but I also had a bit of a difficult time getting into the first book. It's one of those series that keeps getting better and better, though!
And yeeeesss, go watch Shogun and feel all the range of emotions \o/

I have feeling I will grow to like the Murderbot series as I read more, as I did with Rivers of London.
I really liked Shogun when I stared, but wanted to wait until I could watch more episodes at a time, and then life happened.

At least now Shogun is all out! No need to wait a week in between cliffhangers. I hope you enjoy the rest of the show!

"One Of Us Knows" and the "Indian Lake Trilogy" are both on my to-read list and I enjoy Fantasy and Horror as well. Would you like to give this friend thing a try? :)
